Commercial Inland Fishery 2006

The number of commercial fishermen in inland waters in 2006 was about 650, and of these 300 derived at least 30 per cent of their income from fishing. The commercial inland fishery catch totalled 4500 tonnes. Measured by both catch volume and value, the main catch species was vendace, with about 2500 tonnes being taken in 2006. The annual vendace catches were in the early 1990s about 1000 tonnes. Since then they have increased.

In 2006, the value of the total commercial inland catch was 6.3 million euro, of which vendace accounted for some 4.4 million euro.
