Software for assessing the profitability of fish farming

This project produces computer software designed for both family-based fish farmers and larger companies to use in their production planning and profitability calculations. The product is based on results and models that have been used and verified in the field of research for years. The main focus in developing the software is to help the companies improve their competitiveness.

The goal of the project

The project had two main objectives. First, it developed user-friendly software for fish farming companies for use in their production planning and financial calculations. Second, in 2007 it organized short courses for entrepreneurs on the use of the program. Today, the software is widely used by the Finnish aquaculture industry.

Results

Two computer programs (Microsoft Excel) and their instruction manuals were completed. The programs are available on CD and on the Internet.
