Challenges of societal transitions to the natural resource politics

The research project compares the field of the natural resource politics with major societal transitions. New knowledge on professional and recreational fishery, fish and reindeer farming and hunting and on their governance, acceptability and future outlooks is needed for decision making, organisations and enterprises.

The central research themes are changes in the use of the animal natural resources, in their proprietary rights and in decision maker groups, the use and protection of the animal natural resources and sustainable hunting, fishery and reindeer husbandry.

The ongoing research projects:

  • Recreational fishing in Finland
  • Hunters and hunting in Finland
  • Fragmentation of the socioecological habitats of the wild life
  • The changes in salmon fishery and the identity of the fisherman
  • Hunting of small game animals in Northern Finland
