Large carnivore research Large carnivore research focuses on populations and living habits of brown bear (Ursus arctos), wolf (Canis lupus), wolverine (Gulo gulo) and lynx (Lynx lynx). Important areas of research are the age and sex structure and genetic composition of populations, as well as movement patterns, home ranges, habitats, diet and relationship with human activities. In recent years, wolf and bear have been the most important target species. The management of large carnivore populations is based on the results revealed in these types of research projects.
