Our strategy

The key task of the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute is threefold: to assess, forecast and compile statistics on fish and game resources, to maintain the diversity of fish stocks, and to promote fish, game and reindeer livelihoods.

We create preconditions for the

• maintenance of fish and game stock vitality
• sustainable development of professional fishing, fish farming, reindeer management, and related livelihoods
• development of recreational fishing and hunting and their associated tourism
• prevention of damage caused by game animals
• fulfilment and implementation of national and international obligations regarding sustainable hunting and fishing
